Tinkerbell teaches me about trusting my Heavenly ParentTinkerbell is my beloved chihuahua. She is almost fourteen years old and she has found her "forever home" with us. We rescued Tinkerbell and we think that her previous family might have abused her. Tinkerbell gets frightened very easily. She is particularly leery of men. However, no matter how scared Tinkerbell gets, I am always able to comfort her. She places a lot of trust in me and I love being her pet-mom.
Our Heavenly Parent loves us and wants to comfort us. Sometimes we are all like Tinkerbell, but even in the midst of a global crisis, we do not need to be afraid. This too shall pass. The world is not ending, and God is with us. "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10, NIV)." Richard writes about his experience being quarantined during a measles epidemic in 1941.Richard VanScoyoc was a beloved member of our church family who lived to be over 100 years old. His was also a teacher, a veteran, and a historian. His work had a huge positive influence on many lives. In this article from our church newsletter, he writes with a dash of humor and a lot of heart. His testimony and his stories are particularly timely as we face our current pandemic.
